- Brainstorming paper topics and ideas
- Refining ideas and fine tuning research questions
- Finding information on a subject
- Drafting an outline to plan or organize a written assignment
- Checking and correcting grammar, style, and conventions.
Use of generative AI tools is not permitted in my courses for...
- Impersonating oneself in course-specific contexts (e.g., to compose discussion board items)
- Group work tasks unless all members of the group mutually agree on its use and extent of use
- Writing an assignment (including rough drafts)
- Writing sentences, paragraphs, or papers to complete assignments or assessments
The student is responsible for any information submitted via AI tool (e.g., assuring that it does not violate intellectual property laws, contain misinformation, or present unethical content). Use of AI tools must be documented and cited correctly to meet the university academic integrity policy. Assignments found to have involved generative AI tools in unauthorized ways will not be accepted for course credit. Consult the American Psychological Association (APA)’s website for resources, citation formats, and general guidance. When in doubt about permitted usage, please ask for clarification.
